INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup warm water
- Oil (for deep frying)
FOR THE SYRUP
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon rose water (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS
- Prepare the Dough
- In a bowl, mix the flour, cornstarch, yeast, sugar, and salt.
- Gradually add warm water, mixing until a smooth batter forms.
- Cover and let it rest in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
MAKE THE SYRUP
- In a saucepan, combine sugar and water. Bring to a boil.
- Add lemon juice and simmer for about 10 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Remove from heat and stir in rose water, if using. Let it cool.
- Fry the Kaimati
- Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
